Once more, North Korea proved it can be trusted about as far as we can throw it. The self-assuming pariah extorted millions from the U.S. to stop pursuing its nuclear program. Now it expels U.N. monitors and flips off the planet.
China should be worried. It is perhaps the only ‘diplomatic’ thread N.K. can utilize, and pressure should be put on them to pull in the reigns. If Kim Jong Il is still alive but incapable of making any ‘rational’ decisions (which in his case is a stretch anyway), his militia may be so devoted that they cannot see the imminent risk.
Secretary Rice should be on her way to Beijing right now.
