Therefore, what difference does it make if they support a lame duck, incredibly unpopular President? The GOP may think that walking out on a bailout plan that Bush supports will make Democrats look foolish, thereby temporarily averting their party of blame. If the plan tanks right off, the GOP can point their fingers come November and proclaim, 'We told you so!'
